IT Sr. Line Requirements Analyst

Nationwide Insurance
Dublin, OH
10.2017 - 01.2018

Applied BA experience using Agile methodology to test, reproduce, and analyze backlog defects for the ALS internal legacy application. When these defects were created, the majority were deemed low priority as the assumption was that the system would be replaced with a newer application, at which time the majority of defects would be addressed and fixed during integration of the new system. The decision was made to keep the current ALS system and resolve the defects with the knowledge that no new policies would be created in ALS.

  • I was the sole BA researching and prioritizing the ALS defects by impact and severity. Once the defects were triaged and prioritized, I wrote the business and technical requirements to resolve all the backlog defects one by one.
  • Utilized extensive Agile knowledge in IT/BA/QA to research, review, define, and write business and technical requirements, and defects for multiple projects in RRC, RTC, and QC tools.
  • Identified issues/concerns to discuss with the project business team and provided a resolution to the partners for their opportunity to review requirements before they are sent to development.
  • Create requirements that clearly document the business objectives for new and old project requests, and all the functional and non-functional requirements to align with business objectives.
  • Conducted walk-throughs of the requirements with the development and QA systems team to ensure they have a clear understanding of the requirements.
  • Assisted in documenting business requirements to then determine an estimate for the total detailed cost to narrow down what will be in scope (and out of scope) using the project budget.

Initiated business requirements gathering meetings, analyzed workflows and interconnected systems to determine dependencies, wrote requirements, held 3 Amigos meetings and requirements approval sessions, wrote test scenarios, held Test Case reviews and Smoke Test reviews, helped with UAT and Retrospectives, and then stored all documentation for future reference/ auditing. Skilled in translating business/client needs into well-written, easily understood, well-formatted, and detailed, yet concise requirements. Managed client-specific communications and presentations. Versed in explaining information across technical, business, and management teams, resulting in desired functionality, thus increasing the company’s success.

We were then able to analyze and determine a more logical and clearer user experience, which also cut out many defects/bugs stemming from hitting the same screen from multiple locations throughout the site. Once the Wall Display was reorganized, I documented the new screens, screen options, and flow chart in Visio; the supporting documentation proved helpful for technical teams and leadership.
