My name is Sam Boyd; I am a 15-year-old high school student. I have taken 4 years of Spanish, played competitive soccer for 10 years, played high school tennis, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.6.
I was born into Boulder's athletic community. (My mom was the first owner of Fleet Fleet Sports, Boulder.) And while I love participating in sports, I also value our community and the culture of athletics. It is my wish to continue to be a part of it.
Last summer, I started my own power-washing business. After learning about the business and purchasing equipment, I designed flyers and distributed them in neighborhoods in north Boulder, and I marketed my business on Facebook Marketplace. I communicated with clients and set up jobs, prices, and a schedule. I ran a profitable business cleaning cars, driveways, sidewalks, and decks.
Soccer
I played competitive soccer for 10 years, and through this experience, I developed a strong work ethic. I maintained a commitment to show up to every game and practice on time, four times a week, and give my best effort to the team. I also have a referee certificate for kids' soccer matches.
Tennis
I played on the JV high school tennis team, competing in doubles matches. Playing tennis for my high school helped me meet new people. My communication and teamwork skills improved, too, because we rotated doubles partners as the season progressed.
