I was involved with local undercover sting operations for about 5 years. As a minor I helped communities prevent illegal sale of tobacco to other minors all over LA County. In this volunteer position I was responsible for working directly with peace officers/ Investigators from the CDPH Food and Drug branch & Tobacco Enforcement Unit. While on the field with the officers, I regularly attempted to purchase tobacco products from stores to find out if they would check for my identification and sell tobacco to me or others under 21 years of age. Participating in this program, I learned to work, adapt and problem solve in confrontational situations in a calm and collected manner. Also learned introspection, confidence and self awareness.
