Grants for mural work in orphanage in Odessa. Opening door for adoption to US Odessa, Ukraine wh

The organization had already painted murals in many institutions. In an effort to broaden our horizons we heard of the situation in Odessa. After obtaining the funding, off we went. The situation in Odessa was something we were not familiar with. economy  was bad, shelves in stores were not stocked. We felt guilty having a meal. Needless to say the situation at the orphanage was sad. The kids did not have any amenities. no furniture, no tooth paste, toilet paper etc. They did share a roller skate. Not a pair a roller skate. And they happily shared the skate. Fortunately they all had yoyos. And they had them mastered. We were liked rock stars to them. They watched us paint in amazement and wanted to participate. The sad reality was these kids were caught up in a viscous cycle. The boys would eventually leave and became drug dealers and the girls would be prostitutes. When we were done with the mural work we furnished the orphanage, laid rugs down on concrete floors and came real close to taking this oe girl with us. Soon after they found away to set up adoption with US. I have some friends who adopted who are now married and well and raising children of their own.
