Current student, aspiring Social Worker and Counselor with knowledge and experience on behavior intervention and problem-solving among individuals. Substantial experience working with many people of diverse backgrounds, ready to learn from anyone and make everyone feel seen. Natural-leader committed to the success of others around me by any means necessary.
At University Catering at Ball State, I, along with my student peers, handle a multitude of tasks that help keep the wheels turning at this successful Ball State affiliated business. Some examples of what I do on a week-to-week basis are prepping food to be sent to events, cleaning our kitchen and surrounding areas, along with setting up and working at catered events and bars. I use my communication and problem solving skills on a daily basis to ensure my success and the success of those around me.
At Ross Community Center, I served as a volunteer, collaborating with the staff and coordinators to assure the success and understanding of the students attending the after-school program. There was much expected from volunteers, such as role flexibility. This meant that I could be helping a student work on homework one minute and the next minute I would be helping a student calm down from a conflict or argument they were having with another student. This flexibility that I had to have strengthened my communication skills, along with helping to shape my mindset regarding serving students in my community.
As a volunteer at Motivate Our Minds, I worked with the teachers and other staff that were employed at the location to ensure the success and well-being of the students in attendance. Some examples of the work I was doing was helping students with homework, bonding with them through non-school related activities, and making sure all the students felt safe and well attended to. I also collaborated with the Social Worker on site for behavior interventions and conflict resolution.
