In January 2025, the company I worked for, San Diego Humane Society, offered the Animal Care team the opportunity to obtain certification as Euthanasia Technicians. This program had previously only been available to leadership, admissions roles, and the veterinary team. I enrolled in the program and gained the necessary knowledge, completing the courses funded and provided by the company, as well as studying the manual. However, since obtaining the certification was not a priority for the Animal care Team, I ended up in the final stage, where I only needed hands-on training with leadership and a veterinarian, along with the final exam. While I have acquired all the theoretical knowledge, I still lack the hands-on experience.
