Responsible for caring for critically ill patients in ICU and Cath Lab settings. Due to the nature of this position, skill sets need to be elite, adaptable, flexible, and Critical thinking needs to be top notch in order to confidently perform the required duties.

• Trained new nurses in proper techniques, care standards, operational procedures and safety protocols.

Department: Cardiovascular ICU

Responsible for the care of high acuity patients recovering from heart surgery. Device therapy certified. Proficient in care and therapy of LVADs, RVADs, Impellas, VA ECMO, VV ECMO, IABPs, CRRT, CCO monitoring, etc.Collaborate with physicians to quickly assess patients and deliver appropriate treatment while managing rapidly changing conditions. Train nurses in proper techniques, care standards, operational procedures and safety protocols. Provide direct patient care, stabilize patients and determine next course of action.

Department: Cath Lab

Performed circulating nurse duties during cardiac procedures; LHC/RHC, PFO closure, Watchman, TAVR, carotid PTA, PPM, AICD, Impella, ECMO, IABP. Administer IV conscious sedation and cardiac medications, monitor and manage hemodynamics.

Department: Intensive Care Unit, ICU
Cared for immediate postoperative recovery of patients undergoing transgender surgery that require 1:1 therapy. Provided extensive education, care plans, and discharge instructions. Trained in MedHost charting system. Skilled in managing care of multiple patient assignments when assisting on the floor; patient population includes orthopedic surgery, pancreatitis, falls with breaks, head injuries, alcohol and substance abuse withdrawal, pneumonia, leech therapy, obstructions, etc.

Department: Heart Transplant ICU, Shock Trauma ICU, Neuro ICU, Burn Trauma ICU

Trauma level 1 teaching facility. Cared for heart failure patients on multiple devices including ECMO, NXstage dialysis, VADs, IABPs, etc. Trained in Care4 charting and pyxis 4000 dispensing. Recover open chests, heart and lung transplant cases. Float often to multiple units throughout the hospital.

Department: Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit, CSICU

Peri-operative care of cardio-thoracic patients. Some surgeries include coronary arteryrevascularization, valve repair and or replacement, thoracic aneurysms, heart transplants,implantation of ventricular assist devices, a variety of thoracic procedures, and totalartificial hearts. Some very critically ill patients stay with us for an extensive period,exposing us to intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), continuous renal replacement therapy(CRRT), vents, ventricular assist devices (VADs), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECMO), multiple chest tubes and IV drips, open chest care, etc.

Department: Post Anesthesia Care Unit, PACU

Cross trained to provide peri-operative and post-operative care, assist surgeons with procedures, and treat patients during their recovery. Plastic surgery procedures can vary from cosmetic to reconstructive treatments for victims of burns and other injuries.

Department: Intensive Care Unit, ICU/CCU/PCU

Managed the care of a broad spectrum of critical illnesses such as strokes, STEMIs, septicpatients, bowel obstructions, patients suffering from respiratiory distress and failure, GIbleeds, DKA, vascular surgery post ops, cardiac cath post ops, craniotomy post ops,arctic sun therapy, continuous veno-venous hemodialysis (CVVHD). Involved in codesand being a member of the medical response team (MRT).

Department: Telemetry

Responsible for continuously monitoring multiple patients in Telemetry. Computerized documentation. Knowledge of measuring and interpreting cardiac heart rates and rhythms. Comprehensive in I.T. for trouble shooting and maintenance operations. Notify RN and MD of any changes and emergencies overhead.

Department: Emergency Department

Assisted RN and MD with beside procedures in a Level 1 Trauma facility. Stocked rooms and cleaned the unit. Assisted patients with ADLs, provided safety relief for suicidal patients, transferred patients.
