Apart of Bama CHAARG, an all girls fitness and wellness group that consists of weekly workouts and small group meetings. The goal for the fitness classes is to promote a safe and welcoming environment where girls can prioritize their wellness without feeling scared or anxious. The goal for the small groups is to bond with other girls your age and build life long relationships.
Apart of Roll Tide for Reading, a club that advocates and spreads the importance of literacy for children. We volunteer at local elementary schools, hospital waiting rooms, etc. to read to children and sometimes tutor them. In our meetings, we also assemble snack bags for children in need, backpacks with informational books for soon to be parents, and anything else that we can do to contribute for the children in our community.
Participated in Honors Action, a community engagement based program/course through the Honors College at UA, where you are assigned an elementary school in the town of Tuscaloosa. Our mission was to make the campus more enjoyable for the students and faculty, and to do good in our community. My group and I were assigned to Holt Elementary School where we painted murals in the hallways and repainted their gym. Our university and campus is so beautiful, but it blinds the eye from other parts of Tuscaloosa that need our help. We included the students and faculty in our mural, and helped establish unity throughout the school. We also made it our priority to make sure these children knew that their community had their back, and that we would do anything to help bring a sense of belongingness to their campus.
