Lead nurse in a fast paced, high acuity inpatient Endoscopy unit. Worked very closely with physicians and Anesthesia providers to provide both preoperative, procedural, and postoperative care to a diverse patient population. Assisted physicians, collecting tissue biopsies, esophageal brushings, performing esophageal dilations, removing polyps, and performing specialized procedures such as PEG tube placements and ERCP. Coordinated discharge for GI patients to all levels of care. Educated patients, families, and caregivers on diagnosis, signs of postoperative complications, and followup care. Reduced postoperative complications by ensuring patient understanding of discharge instructions and restrictions.
