Summary

I am a Communications and Media Studies student and a student-athlete at Cal State Monterey Bay, where I compete as a dedicated baseball pitcher. Through collegiate athletics, I’ve developed strong discipline, teamwork, and time management skills that I apply both on and off the field. These experiences have strengthened my resilience, leadership, and ability to communicate effectively in high-pressure situations. I am highly coachable, eager to learn, and always open to developing new skills that help me grow both personally and professionally.

Looking ahead, I hope to pursue a career as a baseball coach, firefighter, or in another baseball-related field where I can continue serving my community and guiding others with the same commitment, leadership, willingness to learn, and passion that I’ve developed through athletics and hands-on training.

Junior Optimist Club (OCO) – Volunteer Service Description

As a member of the Junior Optimist Club (OCO) in California, an Asian American–run youth service organization, I volunteered throughout high school to support community needs through hands-on service projects and outreach events. Our club focused on helping local families, supporting community shelters, and giving back through youth-led initiatives designed to uplift and strengthen our community.

My volunteer work included:

  • Community Shelters: Assisting with donation drives, organizing clothing and hygiene supplies, and helping prepare and serve meals for individuals and families in need.
  • Food Pantries: Sorting, stocking, and distributing food to ensure local households had access to essential groceries. Responsibilities included setup, cleanup, and assisting visitors through the pantry process.
  • Tanaka Farms Events: Volunteering at community events hosted at Tanaka Farms, including holiday festivals, farm tours, and charity fundraisers. Tasks included event setup, greeting guests, helping with activities, and providing general support to keep events running smoothly.
  • Leadership & Teamwork: Collaborating with other high school students to plan service projects, lead volunteer groups, and represent OCO’s mission of optimism, cultural pride, kindness, and community improvement.
  • Assisted in planning and executing community events to promote youth development.
