Summary

During my tenure with the Reno Police Department, I was fortunate to be able to work in a variety of different assignments. As an officer, I worked patrol, was a training officer, a detective in the Consolidated Narcotics Unit, and a detective in the Repeat Offender Program.

In 2013, I promoted to the rank of sergeant. As a sergeant, I worked patrol, supervised the Reno Police Department’s K9 Unit, and then transferred to the Internal Affairs Division. In 2020, I was asked to form and supervise a new regional human trafficking unit. While supervising the HEAT (Human Exploitation And Trafficking) unit, I also supervised the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit.

Through collaboration with all the local agencies, the number of detectives in the HEAT unit went from four in 2020 to eight in 2023, plus a full time victim advocate.
