As a member of the pediatric hematology-oncology team, I engage in a diverse set of roles. These roles include:

  • Providing thorough review of TCH-standard biobanking studies [H-6650, H-3342] and international Children's Oncology Group (COG) studies [APEC14B1] to patients and parental guardians.
  • Tracking and managing samples for transportation to COG sites.
  • Updating and tracking inpatient records as well as updating principle investigators on the current status of patients.
  • Updating and organizing patient information into the RAVE and COG databases.
  • Proficient in Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word, responsible for weekly updates of timepoints in patients' treatment statuses as well as treatment plans.
  • Contributed to a manuscript summarizing the successful creation of pediatric AML PDX models in the Pediatric Acute Leukemia Xenograft (PALeX) Program at Texas Children's Hospital and how these can be effective for creating therapeutic agents.

Volunteer Experience

Hospital Volunteer: Houston Methodist

As a volunteer at Houston Methodist, I had several responsibilities:

  • Engaged in several different tasks including clerical, administrative, and clinical tasks across multiple departments such as chaplain services, human resources, orthopedics, emergency medicine, and the neurology intensive care unit.
  • Learned about logistics and supply while providing/restocking nursing equipment in the neurology intensive care unit
  • Assisted in the emergency department by facilitating patient transport, distributing meals, allocating supplies for physicians, and aiding family members with hospital navigation.
  • Contributed over 110 hours of volunteer service, dedicating and committing to the hospital's mission and community.
  • Open and eager to extend volunteering efforts in the future to continue making a positive impact.

Supervising Annual Aggie Lacrosse Tournament

As a member of the Texas A&M club lacrosse program, one of the highlights of the year was organizing and running the annual fall tournament in College Station. Not only was it a chance for schools to compete and showcase their skills, but it was also an opportunity for our program to raise funds to support our travel and equipment expenses. I had the pleasure of: 

  • Facilitating games as scorekeeper/clock manager
  • Tracking player statistics for each game as they were playing
  • Obtaining essential merchandise for our program's store
