United Health Group - Optum
Eden Prairie, MN
07.2019 - Current
Optum acquired AbleTo, a Virtual Behavioral Health Care Platform providing care to Behavioral Health Patients. As part of the acquisition, there were several components involved, multiple integrations happened from AbleTo to Athena (Optum Platform). From a technological standpoint I was responsible for the following: People Integration: This involved providing Optum laptops, Optum email address to all the AbleTo Staff, bringing everyone into Optum’s Active Directory network.
Technology Tools like Rally/JIRA Integration: Onboarded “AbleTo” technical teams into multiple project implementation tools like “Rally, JIRA, AHA, PPMO” etc, as part of this I have completed Rally set up, created project hierarchy, provided access at all levels. Provided coaching and training etc.
RCM Integration: RCM stands for Revenue Cycle Management, as part of this initiative, started processing claims in Athena, which will get rid of Mahler (a third-party tool to process claims) Athena has inbuilt claims processing engine. We get all the ABLE TO Data from different sources like(Enable2, Joyable 2, and other EHR ) into OBC Snowflake, using Athena API’s like patient, claims, insurance, started submitting into Athena and processed successfully. Audit log in place to monitor all the success and failure logs.
Tech Integrations: As part of this initiative, we were bringing different data like patients, insurance, claims etc.. from AbleTo platform to Athena Platform, created data pipelines, made connections to the source system and landed the data into Azure Snowflake DB. This data will be useful by the business for creating dashboards like provider utilization reports etc. Software tools like, Python, Java, ADF, ADB, Azure Cloud were utilized.
Data Platform Operations & Maintenance: As a project manager, along with all other software implementations, upgrade projects, migrations and acquisitions, I am also responsible for O&M. Which includes managing and maintaining a stable platform or environment across the board to meet consumer and customer needs. I ensure any changes to the existing platform are documented, analyzed, reviewed and implemented successfully. I make sure change management is being followed. Utilized SMARTSHEET, RALLY, JIRA, AHA tools for project implementations.
Along with PM Responsibilities, worked as a product manager for entire OBC Data Platform, working closely with both business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that requirements are properly documented and reviewed with everyone, ensure product refinement sessions are happening properly and work is progressing without any issues or blockers. Utilized product tools like AHA for product road mapping and intake. Utilized Smartsheet to track all the ongoing operational intake tickets.
Peoplesoft migration into Oracle Cloud: Optum is migrating from PeopleSoft (ERP) to Oracle Cloud. As part of these all-HR applications are getting migrated. Currently, OBC receives HR Files from people’s team. We get the files to our Azure BLOB Storage Account. From there we send it our downstream business DART (Data Analytics & Reporting). To ensure smooth migration from new oracle cloud, we worked closely with HR Team, made changes to our existing data pipelines, updated our data mapping, verified both old and V2. Utilized tools like RALLY, AHA, AZURE SNOWFLAKE, SMARTSHEET for project implementations.
TCPA Compliance: Telephone Consumer Protection Act. This is a compliance project, scope of this project is to implement TCPA Compliance for OBC business area. The purpose of this project is to identify active patients who wish to be not contacted, should not be called. OBC worked with Gryphon which is a vendor, does the scrubbing, process the data, cross check with their database, and check if the phone number got reassigned to new user in the RND Reassigned Number Database. If it is reassigned they flag it as Y or N. Gryphon will also check whether that particular phone number is listed in the Litigator List (LL File). If it is listed, they would add a new column as Yes or No and sent the return files back. This is a monthly job processing. Upon getting the processed data from Gryphon, OBC will update the Athena Portal using API’s which will reflect in the patient’s chart and providers will know not to contact patients who choose to be on DNC (Do not call) list.
Optum Behavioral Care – Data Engineering: As part of OBC business unit, I am responsible for all OBC Data Engineering Projects. Typically, we get data from multiple source systems, and provide the data available to different destinations, to create provider dashboards etc. We work both with external and internal clients. We provide data to provider facing applications, so that patient scheduling can happen for OBC Patients. Work with Data Engineering teams to make sure data pipelines are created and scheduled triggers are established based on the requirements daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly depending on the user needs. Utilized different tools like ECG, Azure, Snowflake, MS SQL etc.
Optum Enterprise Issue Management (OEIM): OEIM is a platform that is built on ServiceNow instance to manage all enterprise related issues noticed by members, providers and clients. As part of this program, IT will provide solutions to end users on resolving all the issues and complaints. OEIM is an enterprise level organization addressing all the issues, complaints coming from members, clients, providers etc. It supports different product families like - BH, Optum Care, Payment integrity, Care services, PHS etc. Issue types are something like Field Inquiry, Complaints, Clinical Requests etc. Most of the complaints are about claim processing, discrepancies with claims, claim adjustments, member data etc. This is an ongoing operations and maintenance activity. Utilized tools like ServiceNow, Smartsheet, Rally, AHA for project implementation.
CD Migration: Migration of all Connectivity Director Submitters to ODX portal Platform. The reason for the migration is contract being ended and application getting sunset. As part of Migration Efforts, all existing connections to CD have been terminated. New interface connections to Portal have been built, enabled and provisioned. I have worked very closely with stakeholders and project team members to ensure new flow is working and existing flow is getting terminated. Tracked Project daily. Conducted daily stand-ups, addressed risks and concerns and provided weekly status reports, delivered the project ahead of time.
