-I conducted a qualitative research and presented a paper on the "Review of the Status of Cooperation on Transboundary Aquifer Management in Addressing Resilience in the IGAD Region – Horn of Africa” in Entebbe Uganda during the Regional 2nd IGAD Water Dialogue Forum themed "Groundwater for Resilience" held on 25th - 27th January, 2022.
- I got involved in the collection and analysis of hydrogeological data on the Mt. Kilimanjaro Transboundary Aquifer in East Africa shared between Kenya and Tanzania. I worked collaboratively with water professionals and engaged stakeholders in identifying sites for groundwater monitoring systems in the Taita Taveta County, Kenya.
- I did compilation of field findings into a report.
- Participated in the identification, preparation and implementation of national and regional programs and projects to be undertaken within the Transboundary Water Basins.
- I participated and contributed to the negotiations for the harmonization and finalization of the Draft Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Kenya and the Government of the Republic of Uganda on Sustainable Management and Development of Transboundary Water Resources in Sio – Malaba – Malakisi River Basin.
- I attended a capacity building workshop and training on hydro-diplomacy in Naivasha Kenya that was supported by IGAD (Inter-governmental Authority for Development).
- I represented the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation in the 19th IREN Africa Water Resources Bank Forum themed "The Age of Water Diplomacy – What is going wrong and what needs to be done” that was held in Nairobi on 2nd and 3rd December, 2021 by giving a presentation on " Transboundary water resources management, water cooperation and diplomacy."
- Participated in the implementation of the National Water Master Plan 2030 by attending ministerial meetings, reviewing government documents on project plans and giving inputs.
All responsibilities as previously at Insta-Pumps Eng. Ltd.
(i) I was a Drilling Hydrogeologist Supervisor for the Kenya Water Security and Climate Resilience Project- 1 (ID No. PI 17635 Credit No. IDA 5268-KE) on Drilling, Construction, Installation and Commissioning of Groundwater Monitoring Wells in Five (5) Lots – Lot No. 2 (Uhuru Park, Nairobi). Some of my responsibilities included:
- Prior Planning for the drilling works as per the tender requirements e. g ensuring the contractor (Insta – Pumps Eng. Ltd) and the Contract employer (Ministry of water and Irrigation) are in harmony by signing the contract terms.
- Formulating a work plan by use of MS Project.
- Collaborating with the procurement department in acquiring all equipment and necessities pertaining to the project.
- Working together with the Managing Director in acquiring data loggers from Canada as per the contract requirements.
- Ensuring proper bill board fabrication, transportation to site and erection one week prior to drilling rig mobilization for creation of awareness to the public.
- Organizing a ground breaking ceremony at the site.
- Managing the site drilling works.
- Taking records of daily activities at the drilling site.
- Ensuring strict follow up of the work plan.
(ii) I actively participated in geophysical data collection and hydrogeological surveys for groundwater assessment and investigation using the Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) and Horizontal Electrical Profiling (HEP) methods.
(iii) I compiled fieldwork findings into a report by analyzing and interpreting data using GEWIN, Ms. Excel, Ms. Word and QGIS.
(iv) I supervised borehole drilling, analyzed and interpreted rock formation cuttings (sample logging) and compiled Borehole Completion Reports (BCR).
(v) I ensured the company adhered to the government's professional standards of groundwater management and development by submitting the hydrogeological survey report to the Water Resources Authority (WRA) for borehole drilling authorization permit and National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) for borehole licensing. I liaised with the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation in ensuring completed boreholes acquire identification numbers by submitting the BCR and other attachment documents.
(vi) I assisted in tendering and procuring procedures and also marketing the company.
