Shameen Wanjiku

As a nurse aide at Querencia (memory care and assisted living department), my everyday duties consisted of:

- Providing efficient and effective care for residents. As well as advocating for their needs.

- Supporting residents with their daily ADL's such as oral care, bathing, eating, etc.

- Assisting with mobility such as use of canes, walkers, etc. As well as turning, repositioning, and diligent skin assessments.

- Taking part and working with residents in daily activities/ games.

- Assisting in the collection of specimens.

- Improved quality of care by monitoring and recording vital signs, fluid intake, and output.

- Conducted regular rounds to monitor residents physical and mental status throughout shifts.

• Managed time effectively to balance both front-of-house tasks and back-of-house responsibilities during busy periods.
• Cleaned counters, machines, utensils, and seating areas daily.
• Educated customers on coffee offerings, promoting upselling opportunities and enhancing their overall experience.

As a hostess at Pluckers, my position incorporated a lot of tasks. It consisted of me greeting guests as they entered the restaurant, and making sure to help them find their tables accordingly. With the restaurant being busy most of the time my position also involved cleaning tables efficiently and helping the servers run out their food. Working at such a fast paced environment allowed me to be better at multi- tasking and allowed me to obtain great time management skills.
