Former skills contributing to my career experience include working in a group home for individuals with disabilities. When I had gained experience I was promoted to Home Supervisor. I was responsible for managing staff who provided constant supervision, medication administration, and documentation of all events. I submitted all documentation required to comply with NHS Human Services, State and Federal regulations.
An opportunity arose to work with a young autistic man individually and I agreed. I was initially hired as his direct care provider, During the subsequent six years I worked with him, my role changed and grew as he did. When respite care was requested I sought additional training to accommodate his family. When my client turned fifteen I suggested looking into a job working in the community. The Arc of Pennsylvania offered courses to become a Certified Job Coach for persons with disabilities. Upon certification I designed a plan to evaluate my client's strengths. It was agreed that working in a grocery store was a good fit. I developed an action plan to include his school, speech and occupational therapy. We collaborated and followed it until at 16, my client was ready to begin working. I transported him to, supervised, and assisted him during his assigned shift.
As the complexity of my client's needs increased his family and I were introduced to ABA. (Applied Behavioral Analysis). Witnessing the positive effect of this method, I chose to attend the Registered Behavioral Technician- RBT training course offered by the Autism Partnership Foundation. When introduced Matrix Behavior Solutions, LLC I applied to become a Behavioral Health Technician. I added this to my other
responsibilities with my client until October 2023. When a change in his living arrangements occurred I continued my employment with Matrix. In March of 2025 I tested for, and received RBT certification through the BCBA. My current RBT status is listed as inactive because I am relocating to South Carolina.
