I was a member of the unit staff, I sort out inmate disputes and investigates complaints of abuses by correction officers or other inmates investigates incidents of disruptive activity including but not limited to theft, extortion. Develops, and monitors commissary, quartermaster food service, cashiers office; responsive to the concerns of staff and needs of inmates.
Responds to emergencies and security alerts; conducts routine sanitation & security inspections within the unit or assigned work area to ensure compliance with safety regulations, possible contraband and general security; performs related security functions as required such as shakedown, pat-downs, special incident reports, RIB hearings.
Prepares information as needed for parole board hearings, screens offenders for purposes of release decisions and supervision classifications. Communicate and directs assigned caseload activities of offenders to include employment opportunities, referrals to community service agencies. Issues arrest, hold and release orders to law enforcement agencies. Does surveillance and pursues violators-at-large arrests violators and restrains offenders as needed. Search and find for contraband; photographs offenders, crime victims and evidence; performs alcohol and drug testing by observing, collecting testing urine samples. Drives state or personal vehicle to transport violators or witnesses within or out of state; prepares court documents for filing.
Provides work direction and training to other parole officers and clerical staff as necessary. Operates personal computer in order to input and verify information about offenders. Maintains offender files and investigation reports; enforces court orders pertaining to child support and crime victim restitution, court costs, fines, fees, and other financial sanctions of offenders.
