I worked two weekends a month as staff supervisor, assisting with resident care, performing assessments and charting treatments. I worked on the medication cart when we were short staffed, assisted in the dining room during meal times, greeted and assisted visitors with any concerns.

I saw clients every day in family planning and maternity clinics, administered infant and children vaccinations in clinic and county-wide flu vaccinations. I worked case management for high risk maternity patients and made postpartum home visits to assess mother and baby. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, I worked in two special needs shelters administering medications and treatments to people who needed nursing support. I also travelled off site to give vaccinations to recovery workers.

I worked PRN on 11P-7A on a locked psychiatric unit doing patient assessments and providing medications and supportive care.

I worked on a building with up to 40 female patients with schizoaffective disorder. I pulled and administered their medications and treatments as I was the only nurse on my shift. I performed assessments behavioral and physical. I assisted staff with patient activities and meals. I worked with two other RN supervisors before start of shift to make sure all the patient buildings on campus had adequate nursing coverage. I was on call during my shift to go to other buildings to assist with emergencies.

Worked as floor nurse on a unit with trauma patients as well as post operative neuro patients. After 11 months, I transferred to the Operating Room as a circulatory nurse in the OR suites.

I worked at Mobile Diving Salvage Unit 2 at Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base as Dive Support . I started out as a Hospital Corpsman Apprentice, working in sick bay doing vital signs and various duties until I was hired to work as the Master Diver's secretary. I logged diving data that I then sent to the Naval Safety Center. I went to EMT school, as well as taking two night classes at Tidewater Community College to complete my prerequisites for nursing school. I stayed in Naval Reserves while in nursing school.
