I am an ASCP Registered Medical Technologist with over 20 years of laboratory experience. I have worked in molecular labs, Rapid Response labs and clinical hospital settings in the state of Louisiana and Houston, Tx. I have a strong focus in the area of Hematology, Hemostasis and Clinical Chemistry as well as generalized knowledge of Microbiology and molecular technology. . I am presently serving as a Lead Technologist and the Point of Care Coordinator for The Women"s Hospital of Texas.

  • I perform routine and complex laboratory tests using variety of techniques, instrumentation and equipment to assist in medical diagnosis and treatment.
  • I am responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting any issues with all analyzers, including the DXL Siemens chemistry analyzer, ACL 350 tops, Sysmex cbc analyzer and Clinitek Urinalysis desk top analyzer.
  • I maintain inventory of lab supplies and reagents and re-stock via ordering process when needed.
  • Process and order pathology and Microbiology specimens that are considered send out tests to reference labs, including Labcorp.
  • I assist in perform scheduled Quality Control processes including validation of new lots of reagents and periodic cal/ver of any lab tests that are assayed by other methods.

My duties in this role include the validation and implementation of new Point of Care Devices. Maintaining compliance and competency for all Point of Care devices and operators, which include the Nova Stat Glucometer, the Nova Stat Sensor(for blood creatinine). the I-stat (for blood gases and ACT-k) and the Epoc blood analysis device, (Chem7 and ABG's). I also order all consumables for stated devices as well as maintain Quality controls and Quality Assurance. In addition, I maintain stock for additional Rapid testing devices, such as the Sofia Analyzer and the Abbott ID and manage stock for the R.O.M. testing. In addition to all above duties, I also work in the Chemistry department to back field for various shifts and provide additional coverage for the Lead Chemistry tech, performing routine chemistry and serology testing and preparing specimens for send out testing at affiliate reference labs.
