I am an ASCP Registered Medical Technologist with over 20 years of laboratory experience. I have worked in molecular labs, Rapid Response labs and clinical hospital settings in the state of Louisiana and Houston, Tx. I have a strong focus in the area of Hematology, Hemostasis and Clinical Chemistry as well as generalized knowledge of Microbiology and molecular technology. . I am presently serving as a Lead Technologist and the Point of Care Coordinator for The Women"s Hospital of Texas.
My duties in this role include the validation and implementation of new Point of Care Devices. Maintaining compliance and competency for all Point of Care devices and operators, which include the Nova Stat Glucometer, the Nova Stat Sensor(for blood creatinine). the I-stat (for blood gases and ACT-k) and the Epoc blood analysis device, (Chem7 and ABG's). I also order all consumables for stated devices as well as maintain Quality controls and Quality Assurance. In addition, I maintain stock for additional Rapid testing devices, such as the Sofia Analyzer and the Abbott ID and manage stock for the R.O.M. testing. In addition to all above duties, I also work in the Chemistry department to back field for various shifts and provide additional coverage for the Lead Chemistry tech, performing routine chemistry and serology testing and preparing specimens for send out testing at affiliate reference labs.
My role with Lab Corp was primarily as a contractor in the role of Lead Tech- night shift, in the Molecular Lab, initially processing
Sars-Cov2 testing using NAA methodolgy with the Hologiic Panther Analyzer. During my last 4.5 months, the testng shifted to Women's STD's.
My duties with Medlogic involved managing and overseeing the analysis of routine Chemistries, CBC's and Urines. I also maintained the inventory of reagents and supplies as well as managed our send out tests. Unfortunately, the focus of the business turned toward Covid-19 testing. As a result of business decisions, I chose to leave.
Compliance officer with oversight and review of Immunization/certification of admitted and enrolled students in various Nursing programs. In the review process, I provided comments on the adequacy of documents and gave students steps to cure any deficiencies. Secondary duties, included providing documentation and verification of immunization and licensure to clinical settings that students attended as part of their nursing program.
I made changes to immunization requirements as dictated by the clinical affiliates and provided guidance and training to new admits in the use of the immunization system, called E*value.
