I was given the responsibility of building the DR site in Rutherford for
Citibank. We order 600 Sun Ultra 10 and IBM Computers for Traders / Sales people to work remotely for issues like 9/11. We jumpstart's and tested all Citibank Apps and login to all computers so we were 100% ready for duplicate trading Sessions. I wasn't the brains behind it. I was the guy they could trust to show up and get it done and tested.
I was the Lead in TP21 / monitoring group where we kept an eye on all teh filesystems / Server health on Third Shift and First Shift. We used a Salomon App that monitor all areas in Salomon Brothers from Applications/ Reuters and Tics running on Servers nightly. Any issues came up we call the on call Sa and he either login and fixed the issue, or he would train us on how to fix the issue. Sometimes Sa would tell us how to fix it and then call back in the morning and ask what we did.
I also managed 3 Sites in New York - 1 NYP 2 NYP 55Water and 7 WTC Where we broke down reports from IBM Printers. Ran Tape Jobs when needed from the Midwest Nyse etc. All my training was done in house. Salomon Brothers an Citibank was like my College. All hands on learning. I worked Midnight Shift and Early Morning Shift and Normal shifts.
