  • My job duties were booking in inmates through the booking system, taking in property (inmates personal belongings and money), AFIS (automated fingerprint identification system), pre class, writing in log book, pat downs, strip searches, inmate body scan, shakedowns (inmate cell searches), head counts, reading over post orders, report writing, etc.
  • I am required to watch over my fellow deputies that are under me and to make sure that they are doing their job by policy and procedure.

  • Supervise other Deputies while maintaining Care, Custody and Control of incoming, outgoing and housed inmates.
  • A-Pod is the busiest area in the entire facility.
  • There is a constant movement of inmates in and out of this area.
  • Some inmates, Minimum Security Classified inmates, have jobs that they must go to at different times.
  • These inmates must be logged in and out every time they leave the area or return to the area.
  • It is my duty to assign Deputies to escort these inmates to various areas of the Correctional Center (Medical, Attorney visits, ect.).
  • Previously I was assigned to Intake, This is the busiest area of the facility.
  • Intake is where all State, Federal and Local inmates are processed when they first enter the Correctional Facility.
  • I was the supervisor for this area as well for 1 year 6 months before being assigned to A-Pod.
  • I was responsible for making sure that all incoming detainees were properly searched, prior to gaining access to the facility, making sure that their property was taken, secured, documented and stored in the property storage room.
  • All detainees had to be booked into the system (AFIS) and assigned to a holding cell, screened for various illnesses or conditions (i.e. mental health issues).
