• Responsibilities and Achievements
• (40 hours/week) my job responsibilities: Performance of practical nursing procedures which include deployment and non- deployment immunizations, blood draws, smallpox administration and education, and EKG's. I have knowledge and skills to react to allergic reactions to immunizations or Vaso- vagal syncope. Preparing and reviewing soldier's medical records and educating soldiers on needed healthcare information to ensure proper health including medical briefings for soldiers who deploy and reintegrate. I do data entry of information into MEDPROS, ALTHA and DARTS. I have back filled as a nurse at PDHRA and Medical In processing when requested to do so. I have skills in interpersonal relationships sufficient to reassure and gain confidence of Soldiers and Civilians. • (32- 40 hours/week) my job responsibilities: I was an LPN in Family Medicine, Pediatrics and in the nursing Travel Group floating to other departments. This position required frequent travel to various clinics within the Co-op. It required flexibility, travel, working well with unknown staff and patients at times and dependability, all of which I have embraced. I performed all of the below duties while at other clinics within the Co-op. I followed the standard work flow process.
• I embraced Medical Home and call management within Group Health Cooperative. I did desktop nursing and phone triage under the supervision on RN and / or Provider. I was proficient with Epic software used by Group Health i.e.: appointment scheduling, in basket management to include but not limited to result notes, patient calls (calling pt. with lab, radiology and other results), Rx refill requests, pt. secure messages to their provider, telephone health care advise within my scope of practice, collaborating with providers, other teams members and or departments for the needs and care management of patients. I provided direct patient flow support on various days to providers and assist them with patient care, physical exams. I reviewed patient medical records prior to visits to ensure provider is properly prepared to care for their patients in the best way possible. I helped with unscheduled patients and their acute needs.
• I also performed nurse visits which include all immunizations, suture removal, Foley catheter changes, flu injections, Depo- Provera injections, nebulizer treatments, uncomplicated wound evaluation or dressing changes, TB testing, set up and at times assisted with minor procedures such as toenail removals, minor in office biopsies, IUD placements, blood pressure checks and weight checks. I also, under the order of a physician, administer schedule 2 drugs IM or SQ and other ordered medications within my scope and comfort level. I also use the Group Health's DME (durable medical equipment) referral system to order equipment or supplies for patients as requested by providers. I have worked in Specialty Departments, including Dermatology where I have learned to anesthetize for biopsy procedures. I assisted during the procedures and applied skills taught to me for pressure dressings on the wound areas.
• I have worked in Women's Health Care and set up and assisted for yearly gynecological exams, endometrial biopsies as well as for OB pt.
• I worked in the Pediatric department and am proficient with all childhood immunizations and administration of immunizations. I also function as team LPN in Pediatrics and this includes taking care of drop in patients, and phone triage within my scope of practice under the guidance of the team RN and / or pediatric providers. I review all patient medical charts prior to visits and also work as flow staff for Pediatrics. Each flu season I worked offsite flu clinics.
