This research consisted of learning and applying microbiology and molecular biology techniques while also performing bioinformatic analysis & genome annotation of bacteriophages. Execution of the practical part of the research was carried out by implementing laboratory techniques such as isolation, purification, and characterization of bacteriophages. The bioinformatics section of the research consisted of using computer annotation programs such as GenBank and DNA Master to further annotate and sequence bacteriophage genomes. With this research, I acquired knowledge on applications of bacteriophages in therapeutic use and was also able to work effectively in an environment that relied on collaboration with peers and mentors.
