As a peer network, we developed a quality improvement (QI) project to support consistent, strengths-based, evidence-informed, sensory-based OT care and clear caregiver education across UPMC Children’s sites. I took part in creating the following for this project:

• 25 caregiver education materials that are strengths-based, symptom-focused, practical, and easy to use in daily routines
• A therapist-facing guide/decision tree support tool to improve consistency and confidence

• 12-week rotation with a final caseload of 35-38 sessions per week
• Assisted in the evaluation and treatment of pediatric clients with diverse developmental, neurological, and orthopedic conditions.
• Led individualized therapy sessions targeting fine motor skills, feeding therapy, sensory integration, visual–motor coordination, and self-care abilities.
• Collaborated with supervising therapists in developing and implementing home programs and caregiver education materials.
• Observed and participated in multidisciplinary team meetings with PT, SLP, and behavioral specialists to promote holistic care.

• 12-week rotation with a final caseload of 9 patients per day
• Assisted in the evaluation and treatment of patients with neurological and orthopedic conditions under the supervision of licensed OTs and CHTs.
• Observed and participated in interventions addressing upper extremity function, coordination, and motor recovery.
• Observed a Hand Surgeon for a full day in the operating room
• Supported development and implementation of individualized home exercise programs (HEPs).
• Documented treatment sessions and patient progress in accordance with UPMC standards and confidentiality policies.
• Participated in patient education regarding adaptive techniques, activity modification, and safety strategies.

• Developed course materials that promoted active learning and facilitated effective instruction.
• Organized supplementary materials for lectures, including handouts, visual aids, and digital resources.
• Facilitated group work activities that encouraged collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills among students.

• Increased efficiency in prescription processing through proficient use of pharmacy management software systems.
• Delivered exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner, fostering lasting relationships with clientele.
• Ensured compliance with state and federal regulations by maintaining accurate records of controlled substances.
