I am an attentive worker, no matter what field of work I am employed in. I have learned how to communicate with customers and guests, I learned how to work under pressure, I am hardworking, and I am trustworthy. I learn quickly and I will do whatever is needed to get the job done. I work well with others, and believe that working together and collaboratively is the key to staying afloat. I have worked in both the food and retail industry for a while, therefore I am aware of what both of those positions require from an employee to succeed.
My responsibilities for this internship was to paint scientific botanical illustrations. My job was to choose from a number of different plants that were living on a roof and paint them as close to scale as possible. Along with this, I also researched each of the plants, and documented their life cycle up on the roof. If they survived, if they flourished, if they lived a regular life cycle, if they died quicker than normal, ect. By the end of the internship, I finished a total of seven watercolor paintings that were then showcased in a student BFA show and an undergraduate symposium.
I helped customers find specific products, answered questions and offered advice. A big part of my job was to style outfits for customers, as we had many women come in who wanted our opinions. I also worked the cash register and filled online orders.
I answered the phones to schedule and confirm reservations, recorded takeout orders, responded to service requests and questions, and walked customers to their tables. I also would help buss tables when the bussers were held up with their own responsibilities.
