Sorie Kamara

• Provide oversight to management operations for TRS, a non-profit with an annual budget $360,000.00 dollars that strives to provide a hopeful future and seek justice for vulnerable children in Sierra Leone, West Africa with over 60 staff members and 13 regular volunteers.
• Work closely with organizational leadership and board of directors to provide strategic vision and direction for operational strategy to achieve daily and long-term goals.
• Manage and approve all internal/external communications and support staff in writing, editing and design for annual TRS campaigns, including: Christmas appeal, year-end giving, and annual report.
• Establish new partnerships, develop and maintain donor relationships to achieve TRS mission and financial goals.

• Developed and implemented innovative teaching strategies across a diverse range of modules to engage all levels of students through lectures, tutorials, and seminars.
• Collaborated with faculty and staff to create meaningful learning experiences for students to engage in critical discourse, articulate self-expression and reasoned argument.
• Selected and designed lesson plans and curriculum to meet academic objectives.

• Served as the Chief Adviser to the Country Director for financial management, reporting. and general administration matters.
• Supervised finance and accounting staff and provided oversight to all financial operations and ensured compliance with TRS donor obligations.
• Monitored submissions of financial reports to ensure accuracy is presented to leadership as well as reconciled accounts and investigated variances.

Human Resources Management

• Facilitated interview panels, onboarding sessions and on-the-job training for new hires, bolstering employee job position knowledge and skillset.
• Maintained a satisfactory payroll system and timely payment of salaries and remittance of payroll taxes and social security contributions withheld to the proper authorities, as required by NASSIT laws.
• Ensured compliance with respect to recruitment, dismissal, compensation and benefits, employment conditions, TRS policies in the human resources manual.

Contract and General Administration

• Supervised and ensured that the National Office fulfilled their contractual obligations with regard to timely and quality financial reporting and budgeting.
• Managed the project funding allocated and agreed upon by the U.S. based international office.
• Created insurance contracts of TRS assets and personnel.

• Maintained daily entry, reported financial data, updated financial records in ledgers and journals.
• Handled day-to-day accounting processes and ensured all bill and taxes are paid on time.
• Recorded deposits, reconciled monthly bank accounts and tracked expenses.
• Handled petty cash disbursements and prepared summary payment reports to keep accounts audit-ready.
