- Onsite surveys of insured farms which include inspecting and taking detailed pictures of insured buildings, looking for structural integrity, acceptable wiring and heat. Then computing the replacement cost and actual cash value of said buildings to make sure they are properly insured to value. I also document liability issues such as mean dogs, pools with no fencing, exposed auger pulleys or PTO links, trip/fall hazards, commercial exposures etc. I travel over southern Indiana and Ohio in a company provided vehicle averaging around 750 miles a week.
- I optimize route planning to minimize travel time while maximizing productivity on visits, resulting in greater efficiency and cost savings.
- I then compile all this info into electronic reports at home via LC360 software and submit them to our company underwriters.
- Being the senior LCR, I'm involved in training new team members. In addition I have generated and presented numerous agricultural presentations over the years.
- The most challenging and yet rewarding part of my career has been interviewing busy farmers who don't have a lot of time to answer questions from company personnel. I make it a goal to turn their skepticism into respect for me and the company I represent.
