Pharmacy Technician Lead
- Overseeing 18 technicians and ensuring they follow SOPs and regulations
- Works with one order at a time, making sure that all prescription in totes are labeled and ready for pharmacist to verify
- Highest daily production number:2,700 compared to the 1,300 average number
Manual Area
- Maintained clean and organized pharmacy shelving and work areas.
- Counts pills using an Eyecon pill counter
- Dispenses capsules into pill bottles and ensures label is affixed properly
Specialty Area
- Interpreting, filling, and readying a wide variety of prescriptions from bulk area stock
- Checks and labels bulk orders
Check Label System (CLS) Area
- Operates and troubleshoots automated pharmacy labeling equipment
- Works with vial or box medication at a time
- Inserts vial/box medication into CLS machine and ensures that label is affixed properly
- Checks and rotates pharmacy stock
SI/Knapp Area
- ensures that lanes ares stocked with the assigned medication
- troubleshoots any interruptions on conveyor line to prevent any bottlenecks
- Always listens to make sure that belt is running if not then I check why and I fix it(Examples :Sometimes medication falls off tote or tote slants to the side and is required to align. Error alarm goes off when medication is stuck inside medication drop opening and we are required to reverse the belt to remove debris.)
- Calls to Baker Exception when getting a lot of totes with errors
- Reports to designated Stock person when running low on any medication
- Reads error report in Exception area and rapidly adds missing medication in the assigned tote to prevent backups.
- Resets/turns off and on system at beginning or end of shift
- Removes paper inserts from bottles to prevent jams in conveyor
Bulk/Refrigeration Area
- Ensures all medication requiring refrigeration is labeled and packed within the standards set by the assurance department
General Duties in all Areas
- Practices aseptic techniques by maintaining a clean and well organized work area.
- Before labeling any medication, checks for drug name, location number, NDC and quantity.
- Break down boxes and dispose of paper and plastic in recycling bins.
- Aligns labeled medication for pharmacist so they can easily verify
- Checks for broken,expired, or tampered medication.
- Report to maintenance, supervisor or IT support when needed.
Packing Lead
- Oversees 36-40 packers on the packing line
- Ensures that everyone is following SOPs and regulations
- Scans medication, follows packing instructions, inserts prescription, return label and instructions documents into proper packaging.
- Fills out report at the end of the shift to notify of any problems, production disruptions, early exits, tardiness etc
- Distributes work to packers and uses the FIFO method to make sure that oldest prescriptions are packed first
- Packs singles, bulk, flammables and refrigerated medication.
