Staff and Program Development

  • Provided mentorship and supervision to rotating and fixed staff on the inpatient and outpatient services to enhance clinical skills and incorporation of research into practice
  • Developed Brain Injury specific learning modules for Occupational Therapists in conjunction with PT Supervisor for newer therapy staff which lead to a faster, and more thorough on-boarding process
  • Implemented structured peer mentorship program for newer staff to enhance clinical skills
  • Facilitated interdisciplinary patient care improvement initiatives including:
  • School Re-Entry Committee – Member of interdisciplinary group who goal was to developed a standardized assessment of patient’s readiness to return to school and communication with schools to ensure optimal transition to school
  • Memory Group- Assisted in creation and rolling out of “PTA Protocol”, an evidence based standard of care initiative developed for all staff/disciplines interacting with patients with severe memory impairment. Results from this initiative published the Journal of Head Trauma.
  • Therapy Leader and Nursing Monthly Meetings- Co-led monthly meetings with nursing representatives to increase communication between teams and increase staff satisfaction
  • Led multi site quarterly peer review meetings for Outpatient Brain Injury occupational therapists to encourage sharing of best practices amongst satellites

  • TRANScranial Direct Current Stimulation for POst-stroke Motor Recovery: A phase II sTudy (TRANSPORT 2)
  • Served as lead therapist on this NIH funded Stroke Net trial which included recruitment, hiring and training of assessors and trainers for study
  • Served as both primary trainer and standardized assessor
  • Telerehabilitation initiated in early post-stroke recovery: A feasibility study
  • Served as standardized assessor
