Functions as clinical expert, role model, mentor, and resource in labor and delivery and mother baby unit. Works collaboratively with the Educator, Supervisors, Manager, and Charge Nurse to develop a learning environment for the staff as well a service, outcome and care oriented environment for the patients. Responsible in education and guidance of Registered Nurses regarding the nursing process, critical thinking, accountability for the plan of care and its relation to patient outcomes. Responsible in signing off staff on their assigned and required competencies making sure that they are well educated with emergency protocols, clinical procedures and care tasks.
Provide direct patient care in the maternal child health unit within the scope of practice. Responsibilities include triaging, admission in labor/delivery, circulating in OR and PACU recovery, antepartum care, and postpartum care in the hospital setting. Collaborates with other health care team in order to provide the optimal care that is individualized based on evidence-based practice.
Provide patient care in the maternal/obstetrics specialty area. Assignments includes triage, labor/delivery, circulate and PACU recovery, antepartum, and postpartum care in the hospital setting. As a clinical OB nurse, duties include evidence-based practices while independently performing customized care throughout the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation while maintaining patient safety, therapeutic outcomes, and efficient delivery.
