For the past few years. I have been an AB for Seafarers International Union. I started school In the fall of 2019 at The Paul Hall center In piney point MD. After going through school, I have claimed a series of jobs As an AB standing bridge watch for 8 hours a day and overtime for 4 hours a day. Overtime consists of deck maintenance and deck preservation. Contracts lasting 4 months. However, some lasting up to 6 months.

• Operated specialized equipment, including winches, cranes and derricks during ship operations.
• Moved liquid cargo between tanks with use of special hoses and pumps.
• Installed, tested and configured new shipboard equipment for use.
• Operated and monitored propulsion and steering systems.
• Moored vessels to wharfs with proper use of correct lines.
• Carried out firefighting duties during emergencies, safeguarding vessel equipment and personnel from harm.
• Assisted in navigation and voyage planning for efficient route selection and fuel consumption.
• Followed and helped enforce safety regulations for different ship equipment, systems and work areas.
• Supported ship navigation by inspecting, testing and aligning equipment for proper operation.
• Directed crew members cleaning, maintaining and painting or varnishing various ship areas.
