During my employment at Clark County School District, I ran the following extra-curricular activities at Sunrise Mountain High School, bringing my favorite interests/hobbies to my school:
- Trading Card / Gaming / Magic: The Gathering (2013 - Present)
- This club offered students opportunities to play and compete against each other in a wide variety of card games (Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Marvel Legendary) and video games (fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken, Soul Calibur), occasionally running informal tournaments as well As interests changed and evolved over the years, so did the club's offerings of games Currently, this club focuses on playing Magic: The Gathering, emphasis on the hundred-card Commander deck format
- Improv (2013-2023)
- I coached and taught students the tenets of improv comedy (yes-and, working with one another to create scenes & characters, public speaking and stage presence) as part of a high school competition league within Clark County The league's format was styled as a head-to-head team competition (similar to a sports league) through the use of short-form improv games, so students were able to not only work with each other in playing their own games, but also expected to work and play with the opposing team in developing an approximately one hour show in front of a live audience
- Dungeons & Dragons (2022-Present)
- A small crossover of Gaming and Improv students asked to start a Dungeons & Dragons campaign (a tabletop roleplaying game) and I accepted, becoming the Game Master for their campaigns I directed and oversaw students creating their own characters and statistics, while also offering world settings that I developed (loosely based on past historical times or using published books and content from Dungeons & Dragons itself or other 3rd-party developers) Students were expected to work with each other as a team (towards group goals or on side quests focusing on a particular character at times) and to work within the game rules as I determined for them
