Projects
Role of Particulate Matter in Pulmonary Health Disparity, Sterling M. Brown, 07/2021, Master of Science thesis defense investigating the pulmonary distress disparity between majority Caucasian community and majority African-American community. This study first assess the levels of particulate matter in both communities, then uses extracted particulate matter samples to expose to varying types of mammalian lung cells. The cells were monitored for levels of survivability, mode of cell death, and levels of inflammatory cytokine production.
