I have spent the last 44 years on boats. I'm adept at navigation, boat handling, voyage planning, Troubleshooting electronic issues, and numerous other skills.
I am extremely handy, resourceful, calm under pressure, hard working,
I tend to be on the quiet side preferring to listen rather than talk a lot. I am patient and a very nice person.

For the past 11 years I have served as both the Captain and Engineer on the Horizon, a 154' steel ex-crabber/longliner under contract with Trident Seafoods to haul fish guts in Ketchikan.
As Captain I have been responsible for making sure the vessel is kept in regulatory compliance and in a safe and seaworthy condition while always being ready to perform the functions for which it's been contracted.
I have provided crew training including: safety drills, basic line handling, splicing/rigging/knot work, safe use of tools, wheel watch duties,
Serving as Engineer I have performed maintenance on engines, pumps, hydraulics and various systems onboard. I have also done much of the welding and fabrication required along with troubleshooting electronics issues.
Started as a processor on the crab factory boat Baranof in 1980.
Eventually became deckboss while there. Moved around the fleet for several years. I got my 1600T Mates license in August 1988.
Worked on a few factory trawlers, several catcher boats.
