A C-130 Mission Navigator focuses on precision aerial delivery of combat troops, supplies, and/or equipment, via airdrop or airland, day or night. The navigator is responsible for mission planning, fuels planning, navigation systems management, radar operation and weather avoidance, enroute time control using speed and/or course manipulation, low level route study (as low as 300 feet above ground level), drop zone alignment, dynamic air release point computation, and aircraft defensive systems operation. Often times, the mission will require more than one aircraft. The more aircraft, the more challenging for the lead navigator to maintain formation integrity with inflight time control decisions.
