Work History

Litigation Legal Assistant

AT&T
06.1990 - 02.2025

Litigation Assistant supporting AT&T Bankruptcy Legal Team. At various times provide support to other attorneys in the broader Legal Department. These requests primarily include Legal Research and obtaining documents from court dockets.

Handled Bankruptcy related mail received in various forms (electronic and paper) and ensured all bankruptcy correspondence was reviewed in a timely manner. Also made sure to send the bankruptcy and collections team important mail relating to AT&T customers who had filed for bankruptcy, ensuring that their accounts could be flagged and protected. Worked on special assignments (e.g. various reports, including a new Cure payment tracker). Also worked with garnishment group and provided responses to that group in a timely manner.

On a daily basis traced and recorded Bankruptcy distributions (also known as recoveries). These recoveries are paid to AT&T based on the claims filed in various

Chapter 7,13 and 11 bankruptcy cases. On a weekly basis distribute excel spreadsheets which record the amount received by AT&T and the actual distributions (typically checks) sent to Treasury department for processing. These checks varied between 500-700. For 2024 these checks totaled over 15 million. Also spent a large amount of time distributing electronic bankruptcy mail (service of court documents transmitted electronically) to ensure the appropriate parties reviewed it and that it was flagged with proper indicators, protecting AT&T from possible serious and expensive legal action (e.g. violations of the automatic stay). The electronic mail ranged from 700-800 each week. Also reviewed paper mail that ranged from 500-1000. In this review of documents electronic and paper identified claim objections, claim filing deadlines, court deadlines, trustee refunds, and lawsuits. As issues were identified, bring them to the attention of the lead bankruptcy paralegal or one of the bankruptcy attorneys.

Have an expert understanding of Pacer, an on-line site that gives users access to all Federal court dockets. I have a high level of competence in Pacer to run bankruptcy searches as well as searches in other Federal courts and assisted in research, when needed by anyone on the bankruptcy team or in the larger legal department. Also sent out daily bankruptcy notices (filings). In 2024 there were 10 thousand.
