Sergeant Stydmon R. Scott Sr. was born in sunny West Palm Beach, Florida, and currently serves as a Sergeant with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Correctional Division. With over eleven years of dedicated law enforcement experience, Sergeant Scott brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to public safety.
In his role, Sergeant Scott is responsible for the direct supervision of staff, assigning duties, reviewing reports, monitoring performance, maintaining logs, writing evaluations, and managing shift rosters. He acts as a vital liaison between frontline personnel and upper administration, ensuring clear and efficient communication of policy changes and facility updates. Additionally, he enforces departmental policies and procedures, manages and controls inmates, monitors detainees and security systems, and maintains order and safety within the facility.
Throughout his career, Sergeant Scott has developed essential skills critical to maintaining public safety and delivering effective law enforcement services. He is an active member of the Security Threat Intelligence Unit (Gang Unit), contributing his expertise in combating gang-related issues.
Sergeant Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Bethune-Cookman University. He further advanced his education with two master’s degrees from Nova Southeastern University: a Master of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Behavioral Science and a Master of Human Services with a concentration in Child Protection. This combination of academic achievement and practical experience provides him with a deep understanding of the legal and procedural frameworks essential to his work.
He is a proud member of several professional organizations, including the Florida Sheriff’s Association, the American Correctional Association, the American Jail Association, Corrections USA, the Police Benevolent Association, and the Fraternal Order of Police Jim Folgleman Lodge #50.
