Department Manager responsible for a department of 27 with three direct reports
Responsible for maintaining a budget of approximately five (5) million dollars mostly associated with chemical costs
Maintaining staffing levels to support plant needs tied to completion of required Technical Specification analyses
In this position, my team successfully implemented a Purate chemical injection system (first in the Entergy fleet) to improve chemical treatment/control of algae in ANO-2’s Cooling Tower
In addition, the chemistry team successfully lowered the station’s environmental risk by removing all abandoned chemical from five (5) tanks across the station that were latent issues dating back to 2000
The most difficult tank to resolve, Unit 2 Sodium Hydroxide Tank (2T-10), was finalized in December 2020
My team instrumental in helping the station modify behaviors and remove chemicals at time of tank abandonment moving forward as witnessed by the Unit 1 Sodium Hydroxide Tank project that completed the week of (8/20/2021)
This tank was abandoned during 1R29 (Spring 2021)
Other projects/initiatives that have further developed my career during my tenure at ANO include: Site Duty Manger, Assistant Outage Manager (ASOM), Emergent Issue Lead (Planned Maintenance Outage), Radiological Assessment Coordinator (RAC), INPO E&A Host Peer, Program Owner Training Accreditation Renewal, Outage Control Center Tech Support Manager (ANO for 10+ years) and WF3, 1R29 OTSG Eddy Current Project Lead, EPRI Guideline Document Development, Implementation of RCS Zinc Injection on both ANO units, Implementation of Reverse Osmosis for silica removal on both ANO units, Alternate Purification (APS) for RCS cleanup during outages

Senior Chemistry Specialist
Arkansas Nuclear One
Russellville, AR
08.2004 - 06.2010
Responsible for primary chemistry control on Nuclear Reactors ANO-1 and ANO-2 (data review and trending, trouble shooting), primary presenter/trainer chemistry outage preparations, reverse osmosis projects for silica removal, Counting room oversight (maintaining gamma spectroscopy equipment, quality control program, and radioactive source control), procedure development, coaching, addressing/resolving condition reports for the corrective action process, and various special projects (i.e., implementation of zinc injection)
In this position, my cross-disciplined team evaluated and optimized the Shutdown Chemistry Program utilized in Refueling Outages at ANO
The changes implemented by this team saved the plant and plant personnel approximately 13 Rem in outage dose for 1R18 alone
In the dose arena, this team’s success represented a plant milestone/record
It should also be noted that the team’s success has been repeated in subsequent outages
As a result of these successes, I was selected as an Entergy Key Performer (2005)
In addition, my team won the 2005 Operational Winner 'Breaking the Rules' category
My involvement with this team required many hours of close interaction with System Engineers and Plant Operators in the plant environment

Responsible for primary chemistry control on Nuclear Reactors ANO-1 and ANO-2 (data review and trending, trouble shooting), primary chemistry outage preparations, reverse osmosis projects for silica removal, counting room oversight (maintaining gamma spectroscopy equipment, quality control program, radioactive source control), procedure development, coaching, addressing/resolving condition reports for the corrective action process, and various special projects (i.e., implementation of improved technical specifications)
In this position, I was selected as an ANO Peak Performer (2003) for my work on the Improved Technical Specification Project for ANO-1
Bulk Chemist
Loreal
Little Rock, AR
04.2000 - 12.2000
Evaluate and maintain physical and chemical properties of various cosmetic products
This position required a Chemistry degree; however, it was not mentally challenging or stimulating enough
These facts explain the short duration of my employment at Loreal as a Bulk Chemist
Graduate Assistant
University of Arkansas at Little Rock (Project PAS)
Little Rock, AR
01.1999 - 05.2000
Assist in various office and clerical duties
Provide necessary assistance for students with disabilities (i.e., word processing for students unable to perform these duties)

Toxicology Department Research Associate
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS)
Little Rock, AR
01.1998 - 01.2000
Perform a variety of assays, protocols, and experiments to obtain data relevant to research questions
These duties included ELISAs, Western Blot analysis, Immunohistochemical analysis, animal experiments, maintaining appropriate materials and equipment within the laboratory, upholding occupational health and safety guidelines, and the research and analysis of various data
As shown above, there is overlap in my employment history between my positions at UALR and UAMS
The work performed at UAMS was part-time in nature, and it provided a very flexible schedule
During this same time period, I enrolled in Graduate School at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) to obtain my master’s degree in Secondary Education
I accepted the Graduate Assistant position at UALR because this position paid an hourly wage as well as my tuition each semester
This decision did require modification of my hours at UAMS
After completion of UALR’s graduate program, I elected to accept a chemistry position in the industrial field versus a High School teaching position
This decision was strictly financial in nature because the starting salary for an industrial position was approximately $15,000 per year higher than entry level positions within the educational arena
