Work History

Doctoral Student

Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact, University of Oregon
06.2022 - Current
  • Developing optical sensor and Machine Learning algorithm to quantify the fit of Limb Prostheses and Orthotic Devices
  • Characterized performance of a novel optical sensor for measuring shear displacement to quantify slippage and overfitting or underfitting of the prosthesis and orthoses
  • Improved data reliability and processing time of benchtop tests by automating the data collection process through the integration of two typically non-compatible programming languages (Arduino and G-code) by using Python language
  • Understanding the neural mechanism of motor planning in visual and auditory guided reaching task
  • Engineered the functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) compatible prototype using fiber optic technology for the experiment of the study to collect data with human participants
  • Programmed the prototype through Arduino to create an LED light-based visual queue, auditory command and reach task recorded with time stamps and verified the experiment protocol

Thesis and other research projects

The University of Texas at Austin
08.2018 - Current
  • Evaluating the modulation of muscle activation evoked by superficial radial nerve stimulation while seated, standing, and walking in humans
  • Designed experiment protocol, performed data collection following SOPs as per COVID protocol along with two research assistants, and used Python scripts to pre-process and analyze the data
  • Programmed a LabVIEW script to live stream the baseline EMG values used for seated tasks for the participants to perform maximum voluntary contraction while receiving electrical stimulus in a seated position
  • Collected data with healthy human participants using EMG, VICON motion capture, and Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES)
  • Validating the performance of a novel snapping device used for auditory cues to maintain scapular elevation during shoulder abduction
  • Programmed a MATLAB script to process the data from an audio file and VICON motion capture data to correlate if the sound produced by the novel device was produced when a scapular elevation was not maintained during abduction
  • Effects of Kinesio tape on ankle moment and muscle activation in individuals with a flat foot during the stance phase of walking: Preliminary Study
  • Evaluated the effect of widely used therapeutic kinesio tape for mechanical correction of ankle joints amongst individuals with flat feet

Research Coordinator/Associate

The University of Nebraska at Omaha
11.2021 - 06.2022
  • Evaluating the visually guided locomotion among people with Parkinson’s disease and healthy population for motor & cognitive tasks
  • Troubleshooted and modified the experiment design using psycho.py & E-prime software for cognitive tasks, and motor tasks based on the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) protocol
  • Scheduled and coordinated data collection with human participants using E-prime, Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), and eye tracker (TOBII) equipment

Research Assistant/Volunteer

Texas State University
05.2019 - 08.2021
  • Characterizing the coordination of Trunk Muscles and their activation pattern in children during Instrumented hippotherapy
  • Collected data using EMG with children (ages 5 to 15) while seated on a therapeutic instrument – a mechanical horse/Instrumented hippotherapy
  • Organized or compiled data to provide weekly/monthly summaries to PI and programmed a MATLAB script for pre-processing data
