Summary

Determined and well-rounded individual with many years working as Scientist within pharmaceutical industry. Sharp and focused professional offering skills in cell biology, molecular biology and microbiology quality control. Microbiologist with extensive experience in many phases of antibiotic and antibody drug discovery. Recent primary experience as a senior scientist conducting in vitro assays and designing in vivo experiments to discover novel anti-macrophage receptor antibodies conjugated to antibiotics for eliminating intracellular bacterial infections. Good communicator dedicated to providing high quality, accurate results as part of multidisciplinary research team. Organized and dependable candidate successful at managing multiple priorities with a positive attitude. Willingness to take on added responsibilities to meet team goals. Great results were always satisfying but working safe was always a priority and serving as safety officer in several departments was valuable. I wish to continue my passion for science in a scientist position to utilize my work experience in research and quality management.

Work History

Senior Scientist

REGENERON PHARMACEUTICAL
06.2010 - Current
  • Developed screening assays to aid in the selection of novel lead antibodies for several anti-bacterial targets including anti-macrophage receptor antibody drug conjugates to treat intracellular bacterial infections. One assay lead to the discovered antibody against the bacteria Pseudomonas virulence factor PcrV and the antibody was then used as POC for the AAV gene therapy development program.
  • Evaluated and implemented new technologies and laboratory techniques to improve quality and robustness of sample analysis.
  • Reviewed technical and professional publications and journals to stay current on recent literature and make more strategic research decisions.
  • Detailed study findings and updated research upon new discoveries.
  • Obtained quotes and contracted CROs to conduct BSL-3 studies and MIC susceptibility determination of antibiotic resistant gonococcal strains.
  • Prepared samples for RNAseq data to determine if macrophage receptor expression is affected by bacterial infection and which host genes are upregulated.
  • Developed Pseudomonas biofilm assays to determine anti-bacterial activity of newly synthesized free payloads.
  • Recently performing escape mutant virus assays to investigate the immune escape mechanisms of the SARS-CoV-2 variants.
  • Developed virulent and/or antibiotic resistant bacterial stains and conducted PCR analysis to detect antibiotic resistance genes.
  • Prepared and presented research data at internal group and department meetings.
  • Attended professional conferences on biofilms, cytokine research, antibiotic bacteria-resistance and macrophage therapies.

Senior Research Scientist

PFIZER (WYETH) PHARMACEUTICAL
01.2005 - 01.2010
  • Conducted pharmacokinetic and statistical analysis of the bioanalytical data from nonclinical studies
  • Independently designed protocols and served as study investigator/director supervising non-GLP and GLP in vivo pharmacokinetic studies
  • Served as study director on development project teams for several small molecules and reviewed/authored two nonclinical regulatory submissions
  • Implemented an automation project with electronic notebook BioBook
  • Served as IACUC principal investigator for the department to review and implementation of new protocols.

Research Scientist

WYETH PHARMACEUTICAL
01.2000 - 01.2005
  • Conducted pharmacokinetic and statistical analysis of the bioanalytical data from formulation studies and prepared technical memos and reports.
