My current principal license is for grades K-8. I wrote to Shannon Kvorjak, Education Program Specialist, Office of Educator Licensure and Effectiveness at the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce regarding extending the grade band on my current license. Her response was as follows:

Upon being hired as a principal or assistant principal in a school that serves students in grades 9 or above, I can apply for a 1 year alternative principal license in the new grade band (5-12). Then, after successfully serving in the position for one school year, I can apply for the principal licensure extending to grade 12.
