  • Under the direction of the SAFTY Program Manager, I was responsible for implementing crisis planning and relationship building with high-risk children and families in Santa Barbara County as the primary means of preventing psychiatric hospitalizations, use of an emergency room, or use of public resources such as the police. My duties included the following: Immediate response to emergency referrals via telephone and face-to-face within 60 minutes, implementing intensive response services, follow-up case management, linkage to appropriate services to at-risk children and families, De-escalating crisis situations, ensuring the safety of the child and others in the immediate situation, provide follow-up with the child and family within 24 hours of responding to the call, and completing assessments regarding the need for hospitalization (voluntary or 5150/5585). If hospitalization was required, I had the ability to write a 5150/5585 hold, secure a hospital bed, and arrange for transportation of the client to the hospital when necessary. In addition, duties also included meeting with the supervisory team to review the client's progress, cultural diversity issues, and program problems and/or progress. Serve as liaison with ADMHS, law enforcement, and other community agencies when necessary to provide coordinated care. (Full-time position/on-call, 40 hours/week)
