Other Accomplishments:
The following describes my experience leading a Board of Directors:
As a downhill skier enthusiast, I have had the opportunity to serve on the board of directors for clubs and a council. My ski club was the country's only women's ski club. We served up to 60 members providing activities for members including husbands and children. While enjoying skiing, we also did fundraisers for community programs needing charitable donations. Each year, we honored an individual who had volunteered their time to the sport of skiing on Mt. Hood in Oregon. As President of the board of a 501c3 organization, I had to be familiar with laws that protected our status. I served in this capacity for two election cycles when termed out and unable to run. During my leadership, we grew in membership. We also did an annual review of our bylaws for editing purposes. Issues such as 9/11 required immediate, delicate decisions on my part as the leader.
I also became President of a local council that included 60,000 skiers and 11 clubs. I maintained relationships with those clubs by leading a monthly meeting. As council president, I also attended our organization's board meetings. Being the leader also required me to represent our Council at annual meetings hosting 2,000 plus participants. We also had quarterly meetings of the board presidents across the West Coast and Hawaii.
The experience I developed during my roles as President gave me invaluable experience working with Boards of directors, elections, finances, and other legal aspects of leading a 501c3 corporation. Supporting the leadership styles and challenges with a variety of views is a role that I am accomplished at.
