Support the day-to-day needs of the crime victims in my circuit with expertise in management and resource coordination. Skillfully meet diverse needs and address issues to maintain efficiency and program outreach. Demonstrated success in building long-lasting relationships.
I represent the Office of the District Attorney as a liaison between the office and victims of crime. I have served Butler, Crenshaw and Lowndes Counties in Alabama for 22 years as the only Victim Service Officer in the 2nd Judicial Circuit. I make initial contact with the victims as soon as I am notified of the crime. I explain the court process, asses their needs and refer them to other agencies if additional services are needed. I attend court hearings with the victims, including preliminary hearings, grand jury and jury trials. I collect all restitution information from the victim before the case settled. After a defendant is convicted I attend parole hearings with the victim or on behalf of the victim. I also receive all Law Enforcement files that are brought into our office for prosecution. I make a digital file and a hard file. It is also my responsibility to pay the office bills.
During my time with District Attorney's Office I have served on the Mutli-Disciplinary Teams in Butler, Crenshaw & Lowndes Counties along with the the Domestic Violence Task Force in Crenshaw County. I also served for 5 years on the Board of Directors for Safe Harbor, Children's Advocacy Center in Greenville, Alabama, serving as President my final year.
I have successfully completed two Victim Service Officer training courses from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and from the Office of Prosecution Services.
