Served as Senior Auditor from 2003-2006 while employed at Flagstar Bank. My primary responsibilities were to remedy investor repurchase requests pertaining to income, asset, collateral, and credit discrepancies. I also performed due diligence audits on denied and approved loans prior to loan funding or being sold to an investor. Reviewed non-compliant issues and provided training to the underwriting team as needed.
As a front-line underwriter from 1995-2003 my responsibilities included reviewing and analyzing income, asset, credit, title, and legal documents and making a final determination on loan approvals/denials while ensuring compliance with lender and investor requirements. I worked with team members to identify potential solutions or alternatives for complex and denied loan applications. Reviewed appraisals and if needed discussed with the appraiser their work to ensure the collateral value is reasonable. Determined maximum financing limits when evaluating existing or new home equity loan requests. Proficiently used the automated underwriting systems to augment the risk analysis process. Also reviewed loans that did not fit within the guidelines of automated underwriting and needed to be manually underwritten. Analyzed condo and PUD eligibility requirements to ensure projects were compliant with lender and investor warranties. Authorized underwriting signing authority of $550,000.00.
