I worked at Rockdale County Fire Department Station 9 for close to three years, starting as a brand-new firefighter I learned a lot about the job over the years. I was eventually able to be promoted to the rank of sergeant before leaving.
Station 9 was a double house which held a Fire Engine and a Squad (Technical Rescue unit). I would alternate driving these two apparatuses on shift and occasionally I would ride backwards on the Squad.
