Included are projects for new construction, extension of existing construction, maintenance, repair, and improvements to existing facilities, as well as engineering studies and designs for use in advanced planning and engineering reports. May be assisted by other technicians of lower or equal grade in preparation but is responsible for coordinating and integrating their work into the completed studies and design.
  • Makes studies and designs for relocation of railroads, highways, roads, bridges, public utilities', obtaining information on owner's requirements, and developing comparative schemes to provide equal facilities at least cost to government. Makes quantity takeoffs (for cost estimates) for inclusion in Real Estate Planning or Civil Works preliminary survey, design memoranda, and feature design memoranda reports.
  • Make studies and develops design changes in contract plans required by comments or recommendations of higher authority, changes in field conditions, availability of equipment and material, changes in initial requirements, or in design criteria.
