After graduating from high school, he went on to Nihon University, a prestigious school for short distance speed skating in Japan, where Hiroyasu Shimizu and Keichirou Nagashima graduated. After graduating from university, returned to hometown in Gifu Prefecture to teach junior skaters while winning second place in a national sports competition. Wanting to broaden his interest in American skating and values as a human being, decided to study abroad as a coach, spending three months with the 2022 FAST team.
