My name is Tehinamai Mataele Tafiti and I am a genuine, loyal and enthusiastic individual who is always ambitious when opportunities arise. I am currently the owner and founder of Tauivi, where I create and style cultural attire. Through Tauivi I have also been able to give back to my people, my community, and my cultures. I am a member and student of the Polynesian Voyaging Society and Hōkūle'a crew member. I have been able to voyage, and deepen my understanding of my identity as well as educate our younger generation through the PVS program. I am currently also a an apprentice in traditional tatau under the mentorship of Suluape Aisea Toetu'u and also Natalia Roxas. My passion in the preservation and continuation of traditional tatau has given me a deeper appreciation for my cultures and my pursuit in keeping tatau alive especially for our women.

In 2019 I became a board member of the Miss Samoa Hawaii Organization and was brought on as the Project Manager. I have learned much leadership and am currently learning to lead in this position. As a cultural designer I have had the privilege of being featured in multiple magazines. I have also been a featured Pacific designer at Pacific Runway in Australia. Through my experiences I find I am comfortable and rather enjoy the company of people from all walks of life, and I believe in doing all work with passion and really caring about what you choose to be a voice for. I am eager to expand my opportunities and establish more of a firm foundation that I can build upon for my life endeavors. In my work experience the greatest asset and huge strength I have is dedication. Dedication to my work, to learning, but most importantly to our native people. I also possess strong skills of communication, organization and the ability to take on new ideas and concepts. I am confident that if given the opportunity to apply myself I can be a very valuable asset to endeavors I choose to pursue.
