Summary

I am currently a fourth-year undergraduate student studying Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a part-time pharmacy technician in training at CVS Pharmacy. I plan to attend a PharmD program and pursue a career in pharmacy, as I have a deep and developing interest in chemistry and drug development. STEM has always been a huge motivator for me throughout my schooling, and I feel very privileged to be able to pursue a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology degree as a prospective Pharmacy student.

Pharmacy Technician Trainee

  • I began training with CVS as part of their Pharmacy Technician Training Program at my home CVS location in Santa Clara.
  • I transferred to a Santa Cruz location upon transferring From San Jose State University to UC Santa Cruz where I am currently working for my Technician License to fill prescriptions.
  • My tasks include filing prescriptions, servicing patients, including helping with insurance issues, making vaccine appointments, and finding which CVS store has their desire medication if our store has no inventory.
  • Tasks additionally include inventory management through processing medications for returning to stock, or RTS, and putting them back in their designated spots at the back of the pharmacy for the technicians to use to fill prescriptions.
  • Handled confidential patient information with discretion, upholding strict HIPAA regulations at all times during tenure as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
  • Answered incoming phone calls and addressed questions from customers and healthcare providers.

  • Our team studied the activity of the human protein sirt1.
  • I joined the Wang research lab in Spring 2024, taking a break for Fall 2024 as I had transferred schools.
  • Currently a volunteer researcher at the Wang Lab.
  • Techniques like enzyme kinetics are used to analyze protein activity and protein purification to produce products that can be analyzed.
  • Interpreted and analyzed research data to try and understand certain outcomes.
  • Completed designated tasks with efficiency and accuracy in order to support research objectives.
  • To present findings during lab team meetings, I prepared data tables and graphs to summarize research results.
  • I was trained to use Microsoft Excel heavily and to prepare and manipulate extensive databases.
  • Graphpad Prism was an integral software used in enzyme kinetics analyzing and other data analyses my teammates performed.
  • During big group meetings, members of the lab were given plentiful opportunities to practice their public speaking and data presentation skills.

  • I worked as a curriculum coordinator in the organization Hands-On STEM, which strives to teach STEM education to many underprivileged kids in Title I schools to spark their interests in STEM.
  • The grade range we worked with is from fourth grade to seventh grade.
  • We worked with a company called Peninsula Bridge that introduces us to the kids who want to participate in our workshops in which we perform experiments with the kids.
  • I have experience leading workshops and teaching the content in the experiments to the kids as well.
  • As a curriculum coordinator, I along with my other peers researched different experiments for the kids to participate in that are not only engaging but also convey the scientific idea effectively.
  • Created project proposals for the experiments and develop budget plans for each experiment/project.
  • Represented organization positively and professionally while providing community with much-needed services.

  • Upon my transfer to UCSC, observing the nature and wildlife here. The interactions between different organisms has not only helped in biology classes at UCSC, but also they opened my eyes to life beyond human beings and human interactions.
  • Listening to music as a way to decompress and de-stress. I am an avid music listener and can listen to most genres.
  • Making jewelry and intricate pieces to accessorize.
  • Doing manicures on myself and giving manicures to my friends and family.
